My name is Bryan Chunn, and my journey with the guitar began at the age of 12. I was fascinated by the instrument and quickly decided to take lessons to develop my skills. Through consistent practice and dedication, I learned not only how to play but also the intricacies of music theory, with a special focus on guitar improvisation. This aspect of my studies became a cornerstone of my playing routine, as I regularly engaged in creating improvised guitar solos. These solos allowed me to express my creativity and deepen my understanding of music. I found joy in experimenting with different scales and techniques, which added depth to my playing. Over the years, my commitment to mastering improvisation has transformed my approach to guitar, making each practice session a unique opportunity for self-expression and musical exploration. It’s a continuous journey, and I’m excited to see where it leads me next.

I love to play jazz-style guitar licks infused with a heavy rock and metal vibe, heavily inspired by the legendary Eddie Van Halen. His innovative solos and unique techniques were incredibly motivating for me as a guitarist growing up, pushing me to explore new styles and sounds. My main instrument is an American Professional Fender Strat HSS, which provides a versatile tone suitable for blending genres. I play through a Marshall tube amp that delivers a rich, warm sound with distortion that really enhances my playing. Additionally, I use a dual delay effect alongside an analog chorus, creating a lush soundscape that amplifies my solos. The combination of jazz techniques with rock and metal elements allows me to express my musicality in exciting ways. Each practice session is an opportunity to experiment and develop my style, paying homage to the influence of Van Halen while forging my own path as a guitar player.

My first real rock band was The Blues Fugitives, a thrilling experience that ignited my passion for music. We had a great time playing local gigs and honing our sound. As I developed my skills further, I teamed up with a close friend to form a new band called Pale Cast. Together, we recorded our first album, titled "First Wave," which became a significant milestone in my musical journey. The creative process was intense and incredibly rewarding, allowing us to express our unique style. Fast forward to now, I’m thrilled to be playing with Joe & The Backroad Saints, a talented rock band that continues to inspire me. Each performance is a chance to connect with both the music and the audience, making it a fulfilling experience. Reflecting on my journey from The Blues Fugitives to now, I see how far I’ve come while staying true to my passion for rock music.
